After looking at other different cosplay, they dont seem to be elevated but, my suggestion is that maybe you should try getting some quilting Batting [i think that what its called] but what it is its pretty much like a thin sheet[sorta ^^'] of poly-fill i guess would be the easiest way to describe it but looking on the internet im seeing it for like 5$? idk what kind of budget your on but im sure theres alternatives out there.

after you get the quilting batting cute some out to the size you wish, then take your fabric of choice and kind make a sleeve for the piece you cut out which will be your elevated brown part :D

i dont have any idea how you might want to attach it ^^"

but

Thats the only thing i could come up with for making it look 3-d ish other wise just cut out some brown fabric and sew/iron[ using wonder-under or a product like that.] it on.

Hope this helped! :D
